About

Welcome to Green Zone Ministries! I am the founder and Executive Director!

I have been incarcerated since Christmas break of my senior year of high school in 1998 after growing up in a military family and bouncing all over the country from school to school. Ultimately, and in short, I ended up hanging out with the wrong crowd. Fortunately, I have been blessed to have such a loving family and group of friends that have supported me throughout this ordeal and I was able to turn my life around. Now, I am slated for parole in 2025 where I am committed to helping other people change their lives by creating an off-ramp from the revolving door of delinquency and crime through the salvation of Christ.

Since my incarceration I have formally educated myself and earned my degree where I majored in both Engineering and Third World Economic Development. I have now moved on to study environmental science and agriculture. While I pursued my education I also became an ordained minister and God slowly began to work in me and reveal His purpose for my life. While I do not believe prison and purpose to be synonymous with one another God created a space for me to discover mine within the confines of these walls. With the help of family, friends, and the grace of God, Green Zone Ministries was able to get an early launch!

Currently, there are over 2 million people in American jails and prisons, which disproportionately represents 25% of the worlds prison population when the United States only represents 4%-5% of the global population. Nearly 1 million people are released from custody each year, but the jails and prisons stay packed while over 7 million people are on some form of supervised release. Ironically, these figures remain relatively constant whether the crime rate is up or down. Largely due to the Prison Industrial Complex and Prison Profiteers who have influenced and shaped the system in such a way as to make it increasingly more difficult for someone who has suffered incarceration to not only transform their life but to succeed in life. We seek to turn those "statistics" on their head and become a disruptor to the system through the redeeming power of Christ. To those ends, I also work with The Power of People Leadership Institute, Save the Kids, Wisdom Behind the Walls, Transformative Justice Journal, Alternatives to Violence Project, Designed Conviction, Just Write Now ReEntry, Twin Cities Prison Ministries, and Residents Encounter Christ just to name a few.

Thank you for joining our journey! Hope to talk with you soon!
